When Appearance and Circumstance was published in 2003 we categorized 80 features. In Homœopathic Facial Analysis we focus on slightly less features - for those who make a close comparison of the differences, the following are our findings. In some cases we have changed the terminology, in others we have dropped the feature due to its rarity or lack of definition.

Change of Miasm

Teeth - front two crossed over

This was our only mistake. Now classified as blue and not yellow.

New Names

Feature	Current Status
Hair - crowded in or squeezed at temples	Now known as crowded hairline - where the hair crowds in at the side of the hairline near the temples - not literally squeezed in temples. Often seen with a low hairline although not always

Features No Longer Used

Feature	Current Status
Eyes - focus off centre	Difficult to define so we have dropped this feature
Eyes - round	Difficult to define so we have dropped this feature
Eyes - almond	Difficult to define so we have dropped this feature
Nose - ski-jump	Difficult to define so we have dropped this feature
Nose - snubbed	Rarely seen we have dropped this feature
Nose - saddle	Difficult to define so we have dropped this feature. It was originally intended as in indented shape in the bone structure - rarely seen but has been misunderstood as a skin pattern.
Teeth - square	Almost always seen in conjunction with even teeth so one red feature is given for even. The square shape has been dropped to avoid doubling up.
Face - flat	Too difficult to define so we have dropped this feature - it is easier to analyse each part separately
Jaw - square	Too difficult to define so we have dropped this feature
Skin - dry	Dryness is a sensation rather than a look - if the skin is yellow it will be seen in the lines. Persons of all miasms can have dry skin.
Skin - flushed	The colour of the skin varies due to racial background and state of health. We have dropped this feature.
Skin - excessive hair growth	Too difficult to determine due to cosmetic practices. This feature can also be related to the state of health. We have dropped this feature.
Skin - moles	Use this as confirmatory feature only (red) but not as part of the analysis
Eyebrows	Too difficult to define so we have dropped this feature
White of sclera	Too difficult to define so we have dropped this feature
